"From the Vanmark Commanding Images of the Civil War is the Civil War Chess Set. Measures 15.5 x 4 x 15.5. Each hand painted playing piece measures between 2.5 and 4 high, and is handcrafted from cold-cast resin with an aged bronze look. Includes a lidded wooden chess board with a cherry finish and individual compartments to store each piece under the playing field. The entire set is held up by four pewter eagles, two with the Confederate flag and two with the US flag. The board features an old fashioned map of the eastern part of the US. Each side starts on the north or south part of the map. Includes a listing of each piece and how they can move. Click on the picture of the pieces for a closer view. The Confederate pieces include Robert E. Lee as the king, Savannah as the State's Rights queen, Stonewall Jackson and Johnston as the bishops, Forrest and J.E.B. Stuart as the knights, log fortifications topped by mortars as the rooks, and rebel grayjackets as the pawns. The Union pieces include Ulysses S. Grant as the king, Columbia as The Union queen, Hancock and Sherman as the bishops, Sheridan and Custer as the knights, log fortifications topped by mortars as the rooks, and yankee bluecoats as the pawns.
