"From the Vanmark Commanding Images of the Civil War is the Phillip A. Sheridan statuette. Features Cavalry Commander Sheridan in spurs with his sword at his side. Measures 5 x 5 x 10 high. Each Vanmark sculpture is individually numbered and is handcrafted from cold-cast resin. Phillip A. Sheridan of New York, 1831-1888, Union One of the most successful Union generals and one of the most respected military men of the 19th century; led cavalry in the weatern campaigns in Kentucky and Tennessee. In April 1864, through bold tactics and aggressive leadership, was made Commander of all cavalry for the Army of the Potomac at age 33 by Ulysses S. Grant. Through a series of brilliant victories from Winchester, 1864 to Appomattox, 1865, Sheridan, on his famous horse Rienzi, helped orchestrate the final surrender of Lee at Appomattox. No period in the history of our country created deeper passion--or greater heroes. Crafted in striking detail and precision, we are proud to present Commanding Images of the Civil War, featuring outstanding leaders from both sides of the war between the states. Commanders are brought to life through historically accurate dress, expression and stature.
